About Us
RMEO is a Community of Practice (CoP) registered as a Non-Governmental Organization under the laws of Rwanda. Its membership is comprised of Monitoring and Evaluation professionals and practitioners from the public sector, civil society, research institutions, the UN, and the private sector. RMEO’ mission is to cultivate the highest professional standards in monitoring and evaluation practice and theory through highly skilled and motivated members and promoting a nationwide culture of using evidence-based data to inform decision-making
RMEO President
Alex Mugabo holds a Msc. in Impact Evaluation for International Development degree from the University of East Anglia in England, and is a Certified CompTia Projects+ Professional.
He brings on board valued personal and professional background in projects management, finance, research, impact and statistical analytics, econometrics, and monitoring and evaluation.
An avid believer in research and evidence based development policy, he joined REMA in September 2020 without any substantial background in the field of environment, and was blown away by the flurry of jargon used in the sector. Nonetheless, he has since proudly coordinated activities of the Single Projects Implementation Unit from which he has gained extraordinary exposure into the environment and climate change sub-sector.
Alex has a blend of professional experience ranging from governments, civil society and international development organisations including with bilateral and UN agencies. Outside of his routine official work, he also volunteers his time in the local decentralisation affairs of his village and cell.
