The African Evaluation Association (AfrEA), in partnership with the Rwanda Monitoring and Evaluation Organization (RMEO), held its 11th International Conference in Kigali, Rwanda, from March 18 to 22, 2024.
With the theme “Technology and Innovation in Evaluation Practice in Africa: The Last Nail on the Coffin of Participatory Approaches?”, the conference aimed to:
- Strengthen VOPEs in collaborating with national governments to advance the evaluation agenda, particularly in evidence-based policy formulation.
- Provide a platform for sharing experiences to enhance national evaluation capacities.
- Showcase the use of evaluative evidence in Africa.
- Contribute to the development of young and emerging evaluators.
Additionally, the 2024 conference sought to raise awareness, build capacity, and strengthen partnerships between AfrEA, Voluntary Organisations for Professional Evaluations (VOPEs), evaluation stakeholders, and national governments on the institutionalization of evaluation in Africa.
